Diana Fayt
is a Ceramics artist who uses sgraffito.
Her sgraffito is detailed and delicate. Sgraffito is applying scratches and marks to an unfired ceramic piece with a layer of slip to produce an outline drawing. All the marks she makes on her clay piece are different and interesting. To me her work stands out because of all the detail and her designs make you want to look at the piece of work.
All her work is basically nature based and is inspired by nature and life stories.
Her ceramic pieces are often narrative with marks of time, events and images seen and experienced then drawn into the surface of her clay bowls and vases. By doing this she hopes to leave a permanent mark that expresses her vision of what she experiences in the world around her.
I really like her work because I think it is beautifully done and all her marks on the ceramics piece are drawn very well and her work is unique and different from other ceramic artists I have seen.
