Life Drawing

I looked at light and shadows for this life drawing. I like the way this drawing turned out, I think I captured the light well. I worked on a large scale on black paper and drew using white chalk. I think this is one of the best life drawings I have done on the 10 weeks program. I really enjoyed life drawing, I think it has made me more confident and made my drawings better. I think life drawing would look really good in my portfolio to show people I can do a range of drawing in fine art. I am thinking of going to life drawing classes outside college so I can do more drawings.

I took some photos of one of my tutors, Ben’s work. I really like his continuous line drawings. I think they are inspiring and it makes me want to use more continuous line in my drawings. I think most drawings look better using that way of drawing. Ben’s drawing's are very liner and look like they have been done quickly but they are really good quality. After looking at Ben’s sketchbooks it inspired me to loosen up on my drawing's and do more better quality drawings that fill the page. 

Coil Building

In ceramics I started coil building. I got red clay and put it in the extruder and I chose a small circle die and placed it into the extruder. I put the clay in the extruder and used the leaver to push the clay through the die so it would be the right shape I want to create my pot. I used clay tools and water to help build up my coil building pot. This is my first tester coil building pot, I thought that it went quite well. For my proper coil building I’m thinking of making a big pot and thinking of keeping the shape of the clay when it come out of the extruder.

Wire Figures.

In life drawing we did a session on wire. I really liked working with the thicker wire as I found it easier to move and create the shape. At the start I did not really enjoy working with wire but I got in to it after a while.

You can just make out that the wire pieces are figures, that is what I like the most about them as it makes you want to look at them to figure out what they are. I don’t think the thin sliver wire worked as well as the ticker wires because I think the thicker wire is better and more interesting to look at, you can’t really see the thinner wire. I think I would like to use wire again in future projects as I had a positive outcome with the wire.
